Relief Projects and
Information
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people in all of the
communities affected.
"My mercy
encompasses all things, but I will specify it for the
righteous who give charity (Zakat)"
Quran 7:156.
Charity or Zakat
represents
the unbreakable bond between members of the community, whom
Prophet Mohammad described to be "like the organs of the body,
if one suffers then all others rally in response."
Charity or Zakat
in Islam means grow (in goodness) or 'increase', 'purifying'
or 'making pure'.
The
Quran encourages the Muslims to donate their funds: 'the
likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah,
is as the likeness of a grain that sprouts seven spikes. In
every spike there are 100 grains, and Allah multiplies for
whom He will' (Quaran 2:261). Giving charity is thereby is
seen as a means to multiply one's fortune and income in terms
of spiritual observance.
